Internship Season Kickoff 2009
What are valuable summer internship and career exploration experiences, and how can you get one?
We got together January 8 to hear from a student panel moderated by the executive director of the Career Center, Bill Wright-Swadel, and to learn through a fun and informative presentation. We discussed a range of successful strategies for finding internships and other great career exploration opportunities, including both On-Campus Recruiting and off-campus recruiting. Students gained insight into the ways in which internships and other experiential opportunities can shed light on their career path.
If you missed the program, check out the resources below and call 919.660.1050 to schedule an appointment with a career counselor.

Follow-up Programming 2009
Internship Follow-up Program for Sophomores and Juniors
The following handouts were provided at the follow-up.
My network (.pdf)
Use these categories to brainstorm all of the people who might be in your "network". Create an opportunity to tell them what you've been curious about professionally or personally to see what or who these people might know.
Skills List (.pdf)
Rank each of these skills based on how you (1, 2, 3) or a future partner or employer (A, B, C) understand their importance. Are there patterns to identify areas where you should be focusing your learning? Use this as a framework to look for experiences, internships, volunteer opportunities, and more!
