
Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) is the executive part of the Department of the Army at the seat of Government. It is the highest level headquarters in the Department and exercises directive and supervisory control over it. HQDA is composed of the Office of the Secretary of the Army; Office of the Chief of Staff, Army; the Army Staff; and specifically designated staff support agencies. It is not restricted to agencies and personnel located in the Washington DC metropolitan area, but includes dispersed agencies and personnel performing "national headquarters" functions, as distinguished from "field" or "local" functions.

FEDERAL CAREER INTERN PROGRAM
The FCIP is a two year entry-level program designed for full time employment and career advancement to develop civilian leaders of a multi-functional workforce for the 21st century. You will receive developmental opportunities, through both classroom and on-the-job training, to develop and enhance analytical skills and techniques. You will acquire knowledge of Army structures, policies and processes. Using fundamental analytical techniques you will analyze and evaluate organizations and activities. Working under the guidance of senior analysts you will participate in studies of complex organizations, functions and processes.
