Internship Season Kickoff!

Believe it or not, it's not too early to be thinking about next summer! Come to the Internship Season Kickoff to hear first-hand from other Duke undergrads about their internship experiences and EMPLOYERS themselves on recommended best practices when applying. Our first panel is comprised of students responding to questions related to their successful experiences in the process of learning about and securing their internship(s). Our second panel is comprised of employers (recruiters/hiring managers) addressing how to be a successful internship candidate. This panel will deal with the fundamentals of networking, resumes and cover letters, and interviewing from the employers' point of view.  Students who pre-register will have the opportunity to submit questions they'd like to ask employers.

First-Year Apprentice Program

The First-Year Apprentice Program provides first-year undergraduate students with the unique opportunity to gain valuable professional experience right here at Duke!

Through a selective process during the fall semester, the program places each apprentice in a participating administrative office or academic department to intern during the spring semester on a substantive project with guidance and support from a dedicated staff or faculty member.  Prospective apprentices select the offices or departments for which they wish to be considered based on the project descriptions and associated learning goals, available through Duke eRecruiting.

Apprentices work five hours a week throughout the spring semester.  While the work is unpaid, the experience that students gain can be instrumental in making career-related decisions, securing future internships, and building strong connections to the greater Duke community.  Learn more!

You can now read about other students’ internships!

The Duke Career Center has launched the Internship Feedback Database. The database contains Duke student feedback about their summer internships, including whether they recommend it.  We’ve put the database together with information from the Internship Survey, available on our website.
You can use the database to research many internship opportunities that are available to you.
The database grows as more students complete the Internship Survey so if you haven’t, get your two cents in.
