First-Year Apprentice Program 2010

Applications Due November 1, 2009!

The First-Year Apprentice Program is designed in response to the burning question, “How can I get experience when I don’t already have experience?!”

Through this unique program, first-year students gain valuable professional experience right here at Duke during the spring semester!

Competing in a selective application process in the fall, successful first-year candidates are placed in participating administrative offices or academic departments to intern during the spring semester on a substantive project with guidance and support from a dedicated staff or faculty member.

Prospective apprentices select the offices or departments for which they wish to be considered based on the project descriptions and associated learning goals, available through Duke eRecruiting.

Apprentices work 5  hours a week for approximately 8 weeks during the spring semester.  While the work is unpaid, the experience that students gain can be instrumental in making career-related decisions, securing future internships, and building strong connections to the greater Duke community.

Information sessions:

Thursday, October 15, 2009 noon – 1:00p.m
Friday, October 16, 2009 1:00 – 2:00pm

Both sessions held at Upper Eastside (East Campus Union above Marketplace)

See map for more information: http://maps.duke.edu/building/136
