Eligibility

Are master's and PhD candidates eligible to use eRecruiting?

Advanced degree students interested in employment opportunities with the larger corporations, organizations and government agencies that conduct on-campus recruitment events, should get familiar with eRecruiting. In order to understand the eRecruiting system and on-campus interview policies, new users should attend an orientation session at the Career Center in the early weeks of each semester. Check the Career Center calendar for training session times and locations.
This entry-level/early stage recruitment system from Experience.com will allow advanced students to see nationwide jobs and internships opportunities. For on-campus opportunities to connect with employer representatives check the eRecruiting calendar of events for

  • Information Sessions (employer presentations around campus)
  • On-Campus Interviews at the Career Center (employers screen pre-selected candidates)
  • Resume Drops (employers screen resumes submitted online but interview applicants off-site)

Hiring Master's Candidates
Most of the employer representatives who conduct information sessions, attend our general Career Fair, and conduct first-round interviews,  come to campus to recruit bachelor's candidates. However, some employers are interested in bachelor's and master’s candidates. There are also positions posted in eRecruiting that emphasize applicants'  interests and skills, not their degrees.   Pay careful attention to the qualifications specified in each full-time or internship posting in eRecruiting. If in doubt about whether you should apply, contact the employer representative listed with each job description.

Hiring Ph.D. Candidates
Most doctoral candidates should expect to contact employers directly for information about Ph.D. hiring or to submit applications. A small group of master's and Ph.D.-hiring employers ( 30-35 ) will attend the annual NC Master's & PhD Career Fair held at UNC-CH's Friday Center in mid-November.
