Network with Employers

A successful internship or search for full-time employment begins with research to find the connection between what you are good at and wired for and what real workplaces demand. Getting insider information-- beyond the website hype and bare bones job descriptions-- will help you anticipate the potential fulfillment and challenges of work life at entry-level, the bottom rungs of a tall and steep ladder.

The learning opportunities outlined in this section will help you avoid getting into the wrong career because you are unaware of your personal and intellectual strengths and weaknesses or because you are uninformed about the many different job functions and specific job demands of your chosen employment sector.

Internship coordinators and full-time recruitment personnel, as well as returning Duke alumni and the Career Center staff, want to connect you with current and realistic career/job information before you leap.
