Networking
- With whom should I network?
-
Networking can take place in formal and informal settings and may
include, but is not limited to, family, friends, co-workers,
supervisors, faculty, and alumni. Starting with people you already
know can build your confidence and help you develop networking
skills. Your contacts can introduce you to others, offer insight,
advice and provide job leads. Networking is about building
relationships and sharing information. (See Career Guide for more
information)
- So what is networking?
-
A continuous process of making contacts with people who can provide
you with important information about specific careers and assist
you in finding and obtaining an internship, job, or other career
related goal. In today’s competitive industry environment, the
people you know are as important as the job qualifications you
possess.
