Post-Prelim Stage

• Take time for program/personal assessment
• Strengthen your relationships with faculty mentors
• Expand your research resources/methods/analytical tools
• Locate grant sources; write proposals
• Sign on for a student membership in your professional association
• Practice networking with peers, faculty, colleagues and alumni/ae
• Present at department seminars, Graduate School Research Day, and conferences
• Publish
• Participate in external employer site visits
• Build teaching skills (through the Preparing Future Faculty or Pathways to the Professoriate programs)
• Increase your skills and experience (oral communication/ technical/ administrative)
