How I Can Help: Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences, Duke University

Briefly tell us about your current job.
I am currently data manager for a research group based out of Duke called the Children's Environmental Health Initiative.  You can find our website at www.nicholas.duke.edu\cehi

Briefly tell us about your career path.
I started working with the faculty member who directs this group directly after I finished my undergraduate career at Duke.  I was one of the original members of CEHI and have remained with the organization since its inception.

What were some of your activities at Duke?
Mi Gente, Alpha Phi Omega, work in many departments, Students Against Sweatshops, Spectrum, Minority International Research Training Program, and study abroad, among many.

How has Duke influenced your success?

My current position, which fits very well with my moral and professional interests and standards, is the direct result of a relationship established during my undergraduate career.

What is the best career advice you would give students of color entering your career field?
Find a faculty member who is interested in your area of interest/focus, get to know him/her, maybe even work with him/her.
